Update 15. December 2023
Threads is available in Switzerland 🎉. I was able to create an account from the desktop version. The app download is still blocked in Playstore on my end. You will need an Instagram account to create a Threads account.
So far so good. Follow me on Threads: @burricorina@threads.net
Update 10. December 2023
Accessing the Threads home from Switzerland, we see now a countdown. The indicated end is on December 14, 2023. What does this mean? I don’t know. But in today’s edition of the SonntagsZeitung, it was speculated that Threads will be accessible from Switzerland starting then. We will see.d
Update 10. July 2023
Hey 👋
Are you in Switzerland and would like to log in to Threads?
But instead of a fancy landing page, you just see the below pale page?
Don’t worry. It’s not you.
Threads is not yet available in the EU and Switzerland.
As EU and Switzerland have stricter privacy policies, Meta is cautious and has not (yet) launched the App in EU and Switzerland (Sources: TechCrunch, Euronews).
At the time of writing (07. July 2023) it is not yet clear when the app will be available for European and Swiss users.
If you would reside in the UK, US or anywhere in the world you would see the below screen with a little QR code on the bottom right. The QR code leads you to the play store to download the app.
There’s that. We can sit and wait. Continue to use Linkedin. And dream how cool it would be to use Threads. Because the grass is always greener on the other side.
What is Threads?
Threads is a new Social Media Tool launched in early July 2023 from the giant Meta. It is treated as a successor to Twitter, which has lost many active users such as John Müller after a change in leadership.
The posts can be up to 500 characters long and include links, photos, and videos up to 5 minutes in length. At the moment there is no edit button to change the posts.

Hi Corina,
You can get Threads in Switzerland. There is a work around. I posted about it yesterday on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/jameseagle_threads-eu-switzerland-activity-7083881706243387393-bTsC?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop.
It works. I live in Zurich and I’m a Sunrise customer.
Hi James
Good to see you again. Thanks for the insight. Still, I prefer to keep things compliant and not engage in workarounds and change my geolocation.
I’m experiencing an intense FOMO though :).
Cheers, Corina
